Flax in Flux is a collaboration between visual artists Kasie Campbell and Nancy Sandercock. This research-based project is an opportunity for us to engage new methods of art making by investigating the multifaceted aesthetics of flax, as both material and metaphor, through the lenses of traditional agriculture and linen production. We will work with local farmers and artisans, documenting and archiving our process through performance, sculpture and film. Our research is supported by a grant from the Edmonton Arts Council.
